Why Is Floor Stripping and Waxing Important?
Wax is laid on hard surface flooring to create a physical barrier between the floor and anything that comes into contact with it. How often should floors be stripped and re-waxed?
Frequency depends on foot traffic. Heavy traffic areas - lobbies, corridors, grocery stores - may need stripping every 6 to 12 months. Lower-traffic areas can go 12 to 24 months. Regular waxing extends the lifespan of office assets and keeps floors safe, attractive, and slip-resistant between full restorations.
What is the process for removing old wax buildup?
By stripping off old wax (floor finish), we provide restorative cleaning. The process involves:
- Applying chemical stripper to dissolve old finish layers
- Mechanical scrubbing to lift buildup from the surface
- Scraping corners and edges to remove the worst buildup
- Vacuuming up the dissolved substance
- Neutralizing and thoroughly rinsing the floor before new coats of wax are applied
- Allowing proper drying time
